Conceptual Project

A design showing the potential use of an abandoned building by transforming it into a co-working space for individuals and providing revenue through a public-facing café and exhibition space.

The scheme was created using sustainable design principles, opting for natural materials that would bio-degrade at the end of life or be recycled, choosing recycled plastic materials where necessary and using the latest methods for recycling existing building materials into the flooring to create unique terrazzo that keeps the history of the building and develops the narrative. The building was proposed to have an extension to the top to provide ample space for workshops, exhibitions, office space, meeting rooms and a coffee shop that can serve as an events space too. The site context and extension meant that panoramic sea views could be achieved in the café space.
